The first layer

Whole home protection is installed at suitable service or distribution equipment to limit transient overvoltage on incoming power. Device selection, connection length, grounding and the panel layout all affect the installation.

We inspect the equipment, select an appropriate listed SPD, install it to manufacturer requirements, and explain its status indicator and replacement needs. Sensitive equipment may benefit from additional protection closer to the load.

We include surge protection in the code review for your service project. The 2020 NEC introduced the dwelling service requirement; applicability depends on the work and locally adopted rules.
